JACOB D MORGAN

Jacob is the second youngest son of one of the greats of Indian jewelry making, Harry Morgan. He was kind enough to allow me to use his "About Me" write-up from his own website. Here is what he wrote about himself:

A family heritage, six generations in the making...

I am Jacob D. Morgan, one of five sons of the late Harry Morgan, world renowned Navajo silversmith. I am a sixth generation silversmith devoted to carrying on our family tradition, applying the techniques and fundamentals I learned from him into every piece I design and create.

My wife Melvina and our two daughters live in our hometown of Crownpoint, NM. We moved back a few years ago to be closer to our loved ones and to raise our children where we grew up and felt safe. Now that I have my own family, I see life through my father's eyes. I realize how hard it is to balance work and family, and the pure joy of being able to help provide for them doing something I love. My fondest memories are of times when I would sit next to him as he worked, watching him bring the jewelry to life. I would ask him questions about what he was doing and why. His answers always contained life lessons, and in retrospect, I'm certain they never really pertained to silver, almost as if he was shaping me and not the material. My passion for quality and excellence are a result of those moments. As my daughters grow up, I look forward to having our own special times, something that they can reflect on in the future as well. I learned "why" a long time ago, and learning "how" is an absolute privilege. As he once told a good friend of his, "It's in the blood..", meaning that you can only teach a person so much and then destiny takes its hold. I have come full circle in life, and I'm focused, determined, humble and grateful.

My goal is simply to create comfortable, well crafted Navajo jewelry. My brothers and I all branch off of what our father taught us, putting our own touch into each piece. The jewelry that I design and create is a reflection of what I see as simplistic beauty. All work is hand made and one of a kind. When you purchase my jewelry, you purchase an item that was crafted with the intent of bringing you peace of mind, happiness and satisfaction. I will be happy to answer any questions regarding my work and look forward to earning your trust with good, honest business.

This website, and all that I do is dedicated to God, my parents, my wife and children and to my brothers, Kelly, Greg, Russ and Clay, they are the reason why I pour my heart into each piece. Without their help, guidance and support, I would not be where I am today.

Thank you.
